Because basics should be just that. Danish/French label Baserange creates soft, easy silhouettes that are forever wearable. With a focus on high quality organic and sustainable fabrics, the simple designs are created with a conscience. Here, co-founders Blandine Legait and Marie-Louise Mogensen talk to RUSSH about the label, their inspirations and the Baserange woman.
Describe your brand in a sentence.
Clothes with as little retouching as possible - both in terms of images and production.
Who do you see as the Baserange woman?
Ideally we would love different women of all ages to wear our clothes, as we do our best to make clothes that allow multiple narrations of how to be a woman, hopefully making the woman comfortable in whatever she is doing.
What inspires you continually?
The things we share regardless of culture. But really [we] think everything ... person or object, where an exchange or feeling is strong can be an inspiration.
What was the starting point for your latest collection?
Skin, and the gestures we make with our hands.
Who would you love to see wearing Baserange and why?
We are happy every time we see someone wearing one of our pieces. It’s really a very nice feeling meeting someone wearing one of our pieces because it felt relevant to them.
If you could live in any era what would it be?
We like right now.
Is there a fabric or a shape you keep coming back to each collection?
[We] really like towel fabrics for clothes. But we always try and make clothes that are comfortable. So it’s more about the woman and what they are doing than the clothes. Fabrics and cuts that hopefully allow the woman to move exactly as she wants.
